Personal politics is not a luxury reserved for those with social capital.

emotional manipulation

I’ll take it lightly
at first, it’s a friend to a friend
but emotions are not your artwork
to place so perfectly.
Crafted manipulation
is not the same as speech.
Your words lose their grounding in conversation
but it’s conversation you preach.
How can change pierce
through the tensions we’ve wound so tight.
I can barely breathe.
We can barely breathe.
We share in our anger,
so share wisely,
or we’ll wear ourselves out in
your pointless battles.
Tensions rise with the tide,
uncontrolled and persistent.
I’ll rid myself of “nice-fitting” language,
it fails to hold on to anything important.
I’ll reject the natural to return to it.

nature reserve
05:23
|

We desire silence.
We seek it in nature but nature does not exist,
except for the idea.
A fence built around a tree.
A false line separates you and me.
Fight silence with loudness,
fight loudness with language,
the meaning behind the words.
Deconstruct and resist
with the movement of our lips,
and tongue, the fluttering sound
of a pen against a page.
Wage war on nature.
Silence is not fought with silence.
Question notions of the natural,
if they lack harmony.

Keeping your ears shut
won’t stop the screaming
or is ignorance
not a concept taught in your curriculum?
